

Marsha (Sweeney) Edsall Herron, 64, passed away Monday, January 23, 2012 at her home in Ankeny. Cremation will take place and a Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 27, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church, 907 Grove Avenue in Corning, Iowa.
Marsha was born November 17, 1947 to Bernard and Virginia Sweeney in Creston, Iowa and grew up on a farm near Kent, IA. She graduated from East Union High School in Afton, IA and from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO before beginning her 33-year teaching career as a high school business and math educator at Cumberland-Massena and Corning Community Schools. She was student senate sponsor, National Honor Society sponsor, and implemented the Student of the Week and Student of the Month programs. She earned Teacher of the Year, was a member of Pi Omega Pi and Delta Kappa Gamma, and served as Adams County Fair treasurer. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, reading, watching movies, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends.
Marsha married Lyle Edsall on July 18, 1970. From that union, two daughters were born. Marsha married Charlie Herron on June 15, 2002.
Marsha is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Charles H. Herron of Ankeny; her daughter Stacy Ricardo (husband Kit) of Des Moines; her daughter Wendy Jensen (husband Aaron) and their children Zachary, Claire, and Hailey of Ankeny; her sisters Linda Sweeney of Chicago, IL and Connie Edsall (husband Loren) of Creston; her stepson Jason Preston (wife Kara) of Ames and their daughters Becca and Hannah; her stepson Josh Preston of Missouri Valley and his daughters Brooklyn and Chloe; her stepson Charles D. Herron (wife Kate) and their daughter Samantha of Duluth, MN; her stepdaughter Janet Dickinson (husband Nate) and their son Brayden; and her stepdaughter Angie Ruiz and her children Trevor and Brianna of Clinton, IA as well as numerous other family and friends.
