The youngest child of Sidney and Lois (McHaffie) Hildreth, Nancy was born in Des Moines on November 30, 1941. A lifelong resident of Ankeny, Nancy graduated from North Polk High School.
On May 27, 1961, Nancy was united in marriage to the love of her life, Eddie Carr. The couple made their home in Ankeny and were blessed with three children; Laurie, Lisa, and Corey. Nancy worked for many years as a secretary with the Ankeny Community Schools and co-owned Carr’s Phillips 66 gas station in Ankeny. Nancy was a faithful member of the Ankeny First United Methodist Church and served many meals to the homeless in the Des Moines area.
After retiring, Nancy was known to never say no. She enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren’s events, lunch with friends, spending time with her siblings, traveling, and going Christmas shopping every year with her grandchildren. Most of all, Nancy treasured time spent at Lake Washburn, Minnesota with her children, grandchildren, family and friends who will all miss her deeply.
Those left to honor her memory include her three children, Laurie (Dar) Davis, Lisa (Steve) Nielsen, and Corey (Victoria) Carr; grandchildren, John Nielsen, Josh Davis, Michael Davis, Rachel Nielsen, Lauren Carr, and Eletina Nielsen; siblings, Keith Hildreth and Susan (Merle) Johnson; brother-in-law, Tike Ballard; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie; parents, Sidney and Lois Hildreth; sister, Carole Ballard; sister-in-law, Fran Hildreth; and nephew, Kirk Ballard.
