Patty was born on November 20, 1941, in Chattahoochee, Florida to John and Leona (Kent) Johnson. She graduated from Carbondale High School in Illinois. After high school, Patty was raising her sons, Steven and Jeffery Deaton, while waitressing and working as a dental assistant. In addition, she attended classes for interior decorating and other special interests. She was with her best friend, partner and husband, Larry Klein for over 31 years.
Patty was an accomplished lead generator/marketer in the health insurance industry. She participated and always gave her full support and directions to new business ventures, investment projects or work, teaching her grandson Tim along the way.
Patty loved the Lord with all her heart and served in many ministries. As a foster child, through her experience she was able to relate to the foster children that she and Larry mentored and represented as grandparents to the Royal Family Kids Camp. When the fosters ages 6 – 12 years old learned Grandma Patty was a foster child herself the barriers to a stranger came down very quickly. She had a natural ability to relate to whomever she was spending time with.
Patty was sweet, outgoing, and had a joyful and loving spirit. Her southern charm and contagious smile and laugh will be remembered for years to come. She was always willing to help anyone at moment’s notice.
She is survived by her husband, Larry; her sons, Steven Deaton, and Jeffery (Suzette) Deaton; and grandson, Timothy Deaton, and sister, Janice Nelson. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Leona (Kent) Johnson; her sisters, Rachel Cockburn and Jetty (Johnson) Hooper, and her brothers, Aubrey Johnson and Douglas Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed at the family and will be given to the Royal Family Kids Camp.
The family wishes to thank all the caregivers and volunteers who helped over the last 7 years with the care and love that was given and shown to Patty and Larry.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be left at www.ankenyfuneralhome.com for the Klein family.
