

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m., Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the Christian Life Worship Center – Ankeny First United Methodist Church in Ankeny with burial to follow at Iowa Veteran’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Ankeny Funeral Home.
Born November 4, 1946 Robert Taylor White II was the son of Robert and Doris (Fletcher) White. He grew up in Ankeny and graduated from Ankeny High School in the class of 1965. Following graduation, Bob enlisted in the Army National Guard of Iowa serving his country for 25 years. Bob made a career with the Ankeny United States Postal Service as a mail carrier for 35 years. Following retirement from the postal service, Bob took a position from 1997-2012 as a shuttle car driver at Karl Chevrolet.
Bob was an avid fisherman and took many trips with friends to Minnesota. He also enjoyed watching Nascar and watching the horseraces with his grandchildren at Prairie Meadows. Most of all, Bob loved spending time with his three daughters, fifteen grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter who all held a special place in his heart.
Survivors include his daughters, Kimberly (Shane) Genochio, Melissa (Jeremy) Lane, and Jennifer (John) Headings; grandchildren, Dmitri Mejia, Tyler Mejia, Justin Headings, Jared Headings, Ashley Mejia, Jessica Headings, Rylan Anderson, Deanna Genochio, Nikolas Anderson, Carlie Genochio, Jayden Headings, Shane Genochio Jr., Anthony Genochio, Jacob Headings, and Jaxson Lane; great granddaughter, Ashlynn Prescott. He is also survived by three sisters, Charlene (Harold) Hildreth, Delores Lein, and Roberta (Mike) Fredrickson; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
