Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2023 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Giovanetti Shelter, 9000 Douglas Ave, Urbandale, IA 50322. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 p.m. following the visitation.
Robyn was born on August 8, 1984 to Jan (Bruehahn) and Steve Bailey in Des Moines, Iowa. As a child, Robyn loved splashing in puddles or “puddle stomping” during rainstorms with her sister, Erin. She also spent many days climbing the Big Cheese at Cheese Park and digging in the sandbox with neighborhood friends. She was taught, through her parents’ example, that we are never too old to play. She took that lesson very seriously throughout her life. As an adult, Robyn was the life of the party with a witty sense of humor and a soulful singing voice.
Robyn’s son, Logan Bickel, was born on July 16, 2010. Robyn loved him with all her heart. He was her whole life, and she was always looking to find ways to make memories with him. She passed on the joy of “puddle stomping” in warm summer rains as soon as he was old enough to walk. She also enjoyed stopping at the local diner for morning pancakes and coffee with Logan, dancing to their favorite songs together in the kitchen, and cheering him on during his games.
Robyn was an Operations Specialist at Wells Fargo in Des Moines. She had a knack for fixing broken processes and creating automation. Wherever she worked, she was loved, both for her strong work ethic and her positive attitude.
Robyn is survived by her son, Logan Bickel of Des Moines; loving parents, Steve and Jan Bailey of Ankeny; sister, Erin Parish and niece, Autumn Parish, both of Grain Valley, Missouri; sisters, Stephanie (John) Hearty and nephews, Noah and Ben Randall, all of Estes Park, Colorado and Stacey (Alan) Cummins and nephew and niece, Nathan and Vanessa Cummins all of Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Robyn was a type 1 diabetic who was passionate about bringing awareness to the struggles that those living with T1D experienced. To honor her memory, and in lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in her honor to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International at https://www.jdrf.org/donate/ or at Camp Hertko Hollow at https://www.camphertkohollow.com/donate/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIk4jm6d6bgAMV7w6tBh0NMASxEAAYASADEgIrwfD_BwE.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.AnkenyFuneralHome.com for the Bickel and Bailey families.
