Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, October 10, 2016, at Lutheran Church of Hope in Ankeny. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday at Lutheran Church of Hope in Ankeny. Tiffiny and Cameron’s home pastor, Rev John Moore (Our Savior Lutheran, Newton), will preside over the services.
Tiffiny Nicole Meyer was born January 5, 1987 in Des Moines, Iowa. She grew up in Newton, Iowa where she was active in dance, tumbling, soccer and cheerleading. She won several awards for National tumbling competitions. Tiffiny graduated from Newton High School in the class of 2005. Following graduation, Tiffiny enrolled at LaJames Cosmetology and earned her certification as an esthetician, fitting for someone who saw beauty inside and outside everyone she met. She then enrolled in DMACC and successfully completed her Associate’s Degree in business administration, making the dean’s list all the way through. She could then put her organization and people skills to good use as she held administration and admissions roles at Mercy Clinics, Mercy College, and Des Moines University.
On August 7, 2010, Tiffiny was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart and true love, Cameron James Dlouhy. The couple made their home in Ankeny and have been blessed with two sons, Tryce and Breckyn. Her family was the center of her life – whether it was decorating cookies with the boys or planning birthday parties or reading storybooks at night. Her favorite saying with the boys was “I love you to the moon and to the back” – their special version of this familiar quote. She was the greatest mom and wife to her family. Even with the energy it took to run a family with two small boys, she still found an extra reserve to make sure the neighborhood block parties were planned, was first to sign up as the Homeroom mom, scheduled sports after-game treats, and didn’t miss coffee times on Saturday mornings. It was always amazing to hear how Tiff fit 25 hours of activity into a 24 hour day.
Life took a twist in 2011 when Tiffiny and Cameron received the news that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. But in predictable Tiff-style, she took this head on like a warrior, taking every treatment and surgery, every medicine possible to fight this disease. Tiffiny didn’t allow this cancer to define her and she wouldn’t let it keep her from finding ways to do the things she loved to do - taking long walks, spending time with family and friends, and keeping in touch through Facebook. She treasured family beach vacations to Florida, a recent family trip with Cameron and the boys to LEGOLAND, and was actively involved with Katie’s Crusaders. Tiffiny was funny and sassy and a whirlwind – her energy lit up the room no matter where she went. No one could resist being drawn into that energy.
She loved her family unconditionally and each one of them held a special place in her heart.
Tiffiny will be deeply missed by her husband, Cameron Dlouhy of Ankeny; sons, Tryce Dlouhy and Breckyn Dlouhy; mother, Teri Meyer of Johnston; brothers, Randy Meyer of Newton, Rowdy (Kelly) Meyer of Newton; grandparents, Linda (Larry) Land of Ft.
