

Private graveside services have been scheduled for William at Lincoln Cemetery in Alleman.
William “Bill” Edward Hommer was born May 14, 1929, to Edward and Emma (Morr) Hommer on the family farm near Polk City, Iowa. Bill grew up on the farm and received his education in Ankeny where he graduated in the class of 1946.
On October 7, 1951, Bill was united in marriage to Eunice Fuller. Bill was self-employed on the farm and the couple were blessed with three children, Jay, Judy, and Janell. Eunice passed away in 1997, and Bill was later remarried to Bernice Bedwell until she passed away in 2009.
Bill was active with the Polk City Kiwanis, Alleman United Church of Christ numerous farming associations, and played in the local card club. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and attending the Iowa State Fair and Prairie Meadows. Most of all, Bill loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Jay (Linda) Hommer, Judy Hommer, and Janell Lowe all of Ankeny; grandchildren, Lee (Jen Hill) Hommer, Lindsay Hommer, Amanda Lowe, and Thomas (Andrea) Lowe; and great-grandchildren, Sawyer Lowe and Sophie Lowe. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Emma Hommer; wives, Eunice Hommer and Bernice (Bedwell) Hommer; and a sister, Lillian Hommer.
