Antonia, known to all as “Nia,” was born June 8, 1934, in Corinth, Greece, the youngest child of John and Marigo Mihalopoulou. In 1962, Nia came to Michigan, where she built her life—working hard, raising her daughter, and faithfully attending St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.
Nia was a hardworking and determined woman. She was co-owner of a south university restaurant, worked as a seamstress for J.L. Jacobson Co. in downtown Ann Arbor, and later retired from Von Maur. She also rented her upstairs apartment to University of Michigan students, many of whom remained a part of her life for years. Even in retirement, Nia continued altering clothes for her loyal clients from her home, often making sure they left not only with perfectly fitted garments, but with a full stomach and warm conversation.
Above all, Nia was devoted to her family. She made sure her daughter, Kelly, always looked just right for Sunday church, rode the bus to Windsor to care for her grandchildren, and lovingly prepared everyone’s favorite meals. Taking care of those she loved was simply who she was.
Nia was a longtime member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, where she participated in women’s groups and volunteered whenever she could. When she was no longer able to attend in person, she remained connected by faithfully watching services from home.
In her free time, Nia enjoyed keeping in touch with family across the United States, Australia, and Greece. She loved working in her garden and took great joy in tending to her flowers.
Nia will be deeply missed by her daughter, Kelly Chappus; her grandchildren, Danielle (Vasili Birlidis) Chappus, Colin Chappus, and Michelle Chappus; and many nieces and nephews across the United States, Australia, and Greece.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five siblings and her former husband, Byron Patrikakos.
Visitation will be held at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 3109 Scio Church Road, Ann Arbor, on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Fr. Nicolaos H. Kotsis. Burial will take place at Bethlehem Cemetery.
Muehlig Funeral Chapel is honored to serve Nia’s family.
