
She was a graduate of Libbey High School and the University of Toledo. She started working as a teacher in Tawas City and Carleton but spent her career mostly at the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies at the University of Michigan where she retired from as a systems analyst. Emma enjoyed researching family histories with her sister, Helen, and attending many Swank family reunions. Emma was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Helen Murphy, nephew, John Murphy, cousin, Edna (Malt) Geithman, and friend, Joseph Tiberio. She is survived by her brother, Roland Murphy, M.D., of Tucson, AZ; nieces, Kathleen Brown and Maureen Murphy of Arizona; and cousin, Dorothy Hale, of Temperance, MI. Friends may visit at the Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 403 4th Avenue, Ann Arbor, MI, on Friday, Ocotber 4, from 9-11 a.m. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 11 a.m. Interment at Toledo Memorial Park.
