Herman I am not surprised your made it to 100 years as you never did anything half way, the entire Patterson family will continue to keep the Weber family in our prayers. RIP sir.

Herman, I'm so happy you've lived a long life, I'm also very happy you understood hospitality, in such a way that nobody would.  But I'm so sorry you had to end your life, from there, but you're still grateful to have set the tone for other hotel founders to love their workers.  Be blessed! :)

To the Weber family,  I worked at Weber's in the 1960's and 70's.  I feel i am a better person for having known Mr. Weber.  He was a very kind and generous man.  My thoughts are with all of you.

On a  beautiful  morning  we see a fine sailing ship  in the bay. At a  word from the captain, she sets  sail . We  see her grow smaller and smaller and finally, where the sea and sky meet, she slips quietly from sight;  and someone standing near me  says, " there,  she is gone".
Gone where?
Gone from sight--that is all. She is still just as large  in  mast and hull and  sail,  still as  able to. bear her load. And we can be sure  that even  as we are saying "there, she is gone",  someone else is saying,
"There, she comes!"

Mr. Weber was one special spirit who will never be forgotten. Thinking of you with deepest sympathy.  Our prayers go to all of the family...  Floyd and Lessie Lipsey

The whole Weber family and Ann Arbor community lost a tremendous man and true icon. You are in our prayers.

Mr. Weber was a kind, insightful, funny, intelligent, man.  He is responsible for helping me achieve dreams that I would never have attempted without his generosity. I started working at Weber's in 1989.  I was a college student trying to make ends meet providing room service at the Weber's Hotel in the summer.  Herman Weber, the Weber family, and all my co-workers were wonderful to work for.  Herman always let me know what a great job he thought I was doing. He made it feel like we were all a family. I decided to stay on through the school year as well. I remember that after I cleaned the halls of trays on Sunday I would sneak on to the piano and play for the brunch guests.  Mr. Weber would always compliment me on my playing, but he was such a great guy that he set up an audition to play for his son Ken as well.  This turned into a job that I have loved for 23 years; and all 23 years of this job has been highlighted with frequent visits by Mr. Weber.  I will miss him dearly.

We know that no words can help ease the pain and loss that the whole family is feeling right now. Our sympathies go out to all of you in the weeks ahead.

Let's recall his charitable role in Kiwanis as a Charter Member of the Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor Western in 1959 and his family restaurant was the meeting place for the club for 50 years.

I was employed at Weber's Restaurant in the early '80's when I was a student at the University of Michigan.  It was at Weber's where I met Steve Kur, a cook whom I would later marry.  I stayed at Weber's thru my graduation in 1985 and worked beyond that until 1987 when I began law school and had my first child.  Steve and I have very fond memories of Mr. Weber.  I loved to wait on him and his wife Sonya and the rest of the family.  Seeing this obituary and the Ann Arbor news article with the picture of Ken and Michael brings back a lot of fond memories and makes me wonder where the time has gone.  I remember very well when Ken & Jill had their first child.  Mr. Weber and Sonya were the absolute best to work for.  I have often thought about our days at Weber's and a smile comes to my face when I think about the crazy busy football Saturdays, Chef Paul, Chuck, Margaret Radloff, Marty, Addie, Freddie and so many others who may also be gone now.  Herman Weber left a legacy to many of us that is remarkable.  I appreciate the opportunity to know him and the rest of the Weber's staff early in my life.  My condolences to Sonya and the rest of his family.

My first REAL job was at Weber's Inn.  I was a hotel  desk clerk  & I was  all of 19.  I was promoted a few years later to Reservation's Manager and I just knew I was going to screw everything up. However, Mr. Weber told me otherwise.  In one of his daily visits to the hotel, he told me in no uncertain terms that I could do anything I set my mind to...and so I did. 

 I could never repay him for the confidence he instilled in me or something that remains even more priceless to me-my family. I also happened to meet my husband of 24 years at Weber's and this weekend our eldest child will graduate from high school and head off to college. I can only hope she'll have such a positive outside force that will believe in her the way Mr. Weber believed in me. I have taken so many of the lessons I learned at Weber's along with me on my own journey.  I am forever grateful & I hope Mr. Weber is checking into a suite right now, ordering room service...and letting “someone” know how they can make the experience even better!

Mr. Weber was one of the most dear and kind men that I have ever known. It was a pleasure to have worked with him for many many years. Loved all the stories he would tell at lunchtime in the lounge. I loved him very much and I will never forget him and his generous ways. Heaven is a brighter place with him there.

Ken, your dad was the kindest man that I ever worked for!  He always had a smile not only to his customers but to the dishwashers, line cooks, salad ladies (back in the early 70's), everyone who worked for him!  There wasn't a day that went by that he made each and every one of his employees feel important!  Hmmm, I wonder if he is setting up a restaurant in Heaven!

Whenever we dined or had lunch at  your restaurant, we always felt as though we were sitting at a special family gathering. We loved the food. We always looked for you, Mr Weber, and you greeted us as though we were old friends, even though I am sure that you did not really know who we were. Many of our anniversaries were celebrated there, and Mrs. Weber always found us a great spot with a wonderful ambiance. We share in your immense loss, and subsequently our loss as well. May God bless each of you at this time and comfort you.

Mr. Weber (as I always called him), was part of my life for 45 years, and an inspiration to me, as well as the thousands of people who had the chance to work for him and his family.  A wonderful man to know, and a great man to work for.  He will surely be missed.  He led a long and full life, and leaves a great legacy behind.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the immediate family as they grieve their loss. We will remember Uncle Herman fondly. Especially our last luncheon and glass of wine August, 2005. Gloria Weber Hubbell and Betty Weber.
