

Age 96, died on July 6, 2011. He was born, May 7, 1915, in Alamosa Colorado to Charles and Oda May Parker. He came to Ann Arbor in 1936 to attend the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy where he was graduated with a BS in Pharmacy in 1940. He was married to Dorothy Hammond Parker for 64 wonderful years and considered it an honor to be her husband. She was truly the love of his life. Mr. Parker received membership in the honorary fraternities of Phi Kappa Phi, Rho Chi, Alpha Chi Sigma, Phi Eta Sigma, and was admitted to the Emeritus Club of the Alumni Association in 1990. Mr. Parker had been employed by Parke Davis & Co., the Paul B. Elder Co., the Durr and Intra Products Co., the Hoechst Pharmaceutical Co., before returning in 1965 to the University of Michigan to become Chief Pharmacist at the Health Service until his retirement in 1983. Throughout his life Mr. Parker made and maintained meaningful relationships in both his professional and personal life. He demonstrated enviable qualities of character and willingness to assist those in need. Mr. Parker's faith and determination carried him through difficult times and drove him to amazing accomplishments. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Elizabeth Girz and her two children, Laura and Peter Girz of Ann Arbor; and a son, Robert Bruce Parker of Los Altos, CA, and his two sons, David and Daniel Parker. He also has a brother, Garland Parker and his family who reside in Alamosa, CO.
