James B. Welliver passed away January 29, 2018 at home. He was born on September 22, 1972 in Ann Arbor to David K. & Mary L. (nee Moffett) Welliver. At the age of two, the Welliver’s moved to the Chicago area, which Jim adopted as his new “Home Town”. Jim loved sports and played football for Lane Technical College Preparatory High School, a public 4-year selective enrollment magnet high school located in the Roscoe Village neighborhood on the north side of Chicago. There he also participated in R.O.T.C. Leaving Chicago at 19, Jim returned to Ann Arbor to attend the University of Michigan, graduating with a B.A. in History. During his college years, Jim worked at Cottage Inn. When returning as a customer years later, Jim was recognized and remembered by other patrons who would approach him and visit, catching up on where life had taken Jim.
Professionally, Jim was a Logistics Manager, the last nine years with Active Aero Group at Willow Run Airport in Belleville, Michigan. At work Jim was well respected, hard working and never resisted “rolling up his sleeves” to get the job done.
Outside of work, Jim was known as a person with a good sense of humor, especially around those whom he felt most comfortable. He enjoyed watching with pride his daughters participating in gymnastics and swimming. With his daughters, he also enjoyed WWE professional wrestling and just being silly. He was known to do impressions especially a great Forrest Gump impression. He loved listening to music of many genres. As might be expected from where Jim spent his formative years, he was an avid Cubs and Bears fan. For college sports however, he was all University of Michigan.
Jim is survived by his daughters, Reece C. and Avery L. Welliver and their mother April Welliver. Parents, David K. and Mary L. Welliver. Siblings, Sara (Hector) Ortiz, Kathryn (Marc) Mapanao and John D. Welliver (Danielle Stewart). Jim is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.
