John Elwood Wirth

John Elwood Wirth passed away at his home in Ann Arbor Monday morning, June 25, 2018 after a brief battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Persis Ann Hathaway Wirth. He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Ann (Randy) Guinn of New Hudson Michigan and his son, Steven Albro (Jo Ann) Wirth of Hope Michigan, six grandchildren and six great-grand children.

John was born November 3,1932 to Elwood T. and Virginia T. Wirth in Detroit. He met Persis while attending Denby High School in Detroit. After High School John attended Wayne State University and then transferred to The University of Michigan where he graduated with a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.

John was a friend to many who knew him and appreciated his wit and vast knowledge. His hobbies included sailing, fishing and wood working. He was also known to be a consummate collector.
