

Marlene was born in Esbo, Finland to Edvin and Maini Simonsson. She has called Ann Arbor home for over 40 years and loved the city very much. She had recently returned from her winter in Florida enjoying the warm weather, friendships, swimming and walks.
In her retirement, she dedicated countless hours to her work on the Board of the Finnish Center in Farmington Hills as well as managing finances for her neighborhood association. She loved to travel and did so throughout her life both internationally and through many states.
She is survived by her loving husband and companion of 35 years Timo Ruuskanen, son Kenneth Malm and wife Leticia, daughter Tina Bremer, granddaughter Amy Malm, grandson Nicholas Bremer, granddaughter Brenmary Ayala, great grandson Raymond and great granddaughter Olivia.
Visitation and services will be held at Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 403 South Fourth Street, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48104 on Thursday, May 10th, 2018 beginning 12:00 p.m. Burial services will be held at a later date in her native Finland. Her final resting place will be Borga, the beautiful home town of her mother, along with her parents and sister Marianne who preceded her in life and death.
