

Roopas, Mary (nee Coologeorgen) of Ann Arbor, MI, age 91, passed away Monday, May 31, 2010 at the home of her son. Born in Chicago the daughter of Peter Coologeorgen and Catherine (nee Papastathis). Mary worked for 30 years at Kiddie Korner Toy Store in Ann Arbor. She belonged to the G.A.P.A. (Greek American Progressive Association). Mary was active in the Story Time Tellers, a group that reads and puts on plays for the Ann Arbor Public Schools, grades K-5. Mary was known for her wonderful baked goods, especially her cookies. She was preceded in death by her husband George, daughter Kathy, and great-granddaughter Jillian and five siblings. Mary is survived by her daughter Priscilla (Carl) Pardon of Fenton, MI and son Peter (Elizabeth) of Manchester, MI , five grandchildren, Tom, Cindy, JuliAnne, Melissa and Mike and five great- grandchildren, Mackenzie, Courtney, Madison, Vincent and Verona. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 with a Trisagion at 7:30 at the Muehlig Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will take place on Thursday at 11:00am at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church with Fr. Nicolaos H. Kotsis officiating . Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church or Arbor Hospice.
