Mercille Elizabeth Doneth

Visitation will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, November 28 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Ann Arbor. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, November 28 at St. Francis Catholic Church with Father Shaun Lowery officiating. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are by Muehlig Funeral Home.

Mercille was born in Flint, MI to Katherine Harcourt Hill and Harry Hill on August 14, 1928. She married William David Doneth, II on May 28, 1949 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Ann Arbor. She was instrumental in running the books of Mallek’s Texaco which was family owned for many years. After she raised her 6 sons, she worked various clerical jobs in Ann Arbor, her last position at the U of M School of Education. Mercille enjoyed gardening, needlepoint and quilting. She attended many sporting events in which her 6 boys participated. She made a mean lemon meringue pie and the best chocolate chip cookies in town.

Mercille was preceded in death by her husband, her son William (Amy) and her son Thomas (Donna).

Mercille is survived by her sons Patrick (Shelley), James, Steven (Denia), Douglas (Mary Ann) 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
