Paul grew up in Ann Arbor and graduated from Pioneer High School in 1973. He studied Criminal Justice at Washtenaw Community College. Paul worked at the University of Michigan for about 30 years, serving both in the housing division and at the University hospital. His work was well respected by his colleagues.
A man of many interests and stories, Paul had a love for dirt bike riding, often exploring the trails north of M-14 near Maple and Newport. Athletic and adventurous, Paul enjoyed basketball and hockey. In one memorable act of his, he rescued his brother Carl after he fell through the ice one winter, using hockey sticks to pull him to safety!
Paul was a devoted train enthusiast, a passion that ran in his family. For a while he worked at a former train station that had been converted into a fine restaurant (the historic Gandy Dancer). On one occasion he brought home some live lobsters from the restaurant, surprising his sister Helen when she found them in the refrigerator!
At the invitation of a friend, Paul began visiting Ann Arbor Baptist Church. After hearing the preaching of God’s Word from the Bible, he accepted the Lord as his Savior in 1981. Paul’s life was greatly transformed as a result. He served the Lord faithfully from that point forward. He attended Faithway Baptist College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Bible in 1995. Paul preached the gospel in nursing homes and in the County Jail for many years. Paul was a faithful witness on the University of Michigan campus and around Ann Arbor. Everywhere Paul went he sought to share the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ with everyone he met. He had a boldness and a fervency that was remarkable to behold.
Paul had deep care and concern for the homeless community in Ann Arbor. He was often seen giving rides to those in need and was a frequent visitor to the Delonis Center, quietly living out the compassion he believed in. His faith guided him deeply, and a verse that held particular meaning for him was Matthew 6:3: “But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth.”
Paul was a loving uncle who cherished reading to his nieces, Helen’s daughters, always making time to nurture their imagination and laughter.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Clair and Alva Reimann; his sister-in-law, Sara; and his brother-in-law, Donny. He is survived by his brother, Carl Reimann; his sister, Helen Collins, his nieces, Tina, Ashley, and Nicole, and their children; and his church family at Ann Arbor Baptist.
Paul’s loved ones extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Trinity Health, University of Michigan Medicine, the Saline Evangelical Home, and Regency at Bluffs Park for the kindness and compassion shown to him.
Paul will be remembered for his faith, his quiet generosity, and his deep love for people. He lived his life not for recognition, but in service to others—faithful, giving, and full of heart. He will be greatly missed!
