Sohyila Hampton

Sohyila “Sony” Hampton passed away on 22 April 2025 at the age of 67. She was born in 1958 where she grew up the eighth sibling in a loving and happy family of nine. She had four brothers and four sisters. After high school, she emigrated to the United States in 1977 to attend college. Sohyila graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a bachelor’s in business in 1981. She would go on to raise two children, eventually going back to school in 1997 to get a degree in drafting. She worked as a designer from 2000 to 2019, when she retired to spend time with her husband. She was an avid traveler. She was actively involved with her family and loved spending time with them. Her hobbies included gardening, embroidery, knitting, reading, and solving puzzles. Sohyila is predeceased by her parents and two of her brothers. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, her two children, her four sisters and two of her brothers. She was the light of our lives. We miss her presence, her laughter, her joy, and her love. She is sorely missed. We love you, Mom.
