Timothy David Fero, age 79, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2025, just shy of his 80th birthday. He was born on April 15, 1945, in Owosso, Michigan. Tim valiantly battled COPD and AFib, but his body ultimately succumbed to the illnesses.
Tim graduated from Tecumseh High School in Tecumseh, Michigan, in 1963. He subsequently enlisted in the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country from 1963 to 1967. He served as an Air Policeman at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota. He had temporary duties in Vietnam and Grand Forks, North Dakota.
After leaving the Air Force, he married Patricia Blom and had two sons, Ted Fero and Tony Fero. He furthered his education by earning a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan. Their marriage ended after 10 years, and Tim relocated to Texas and created Coyote Moon Woodworks, making artisan Southwest furniture that was showcased throughout the Austin, TX, area.
He dedicated his later life to caring for his mother, Evelyn, and then his father, Barnard, until their deaths. His brother, Mike, whom he also cared for, and his brother Kelly, preceded him in death. He is survived by his former wife, Patricia Fero; his sons, and his granddaughter Olivia Maeve Fero, daughter of Jen Welch and Ted Fero; and his brother, Patrick, and sister-in-law, Mary Jo Fero.
Tim's lifelong passion was hockey, a sport he played and loved for several decades. His dedication to the sport extended beyond the ice, as he also coached high school teams, and managed the ice arena at the University of Michigan. Tim was a dedicated sports buff, following all the Detroit major league teams with critical enthusiasm. His keen wit and good sense of humor were enjoyed by all who knew him. He will be remembered for his love of hockey, his sharp sports analysis, selfless caregiving, and ability to bring laughter to those around him.
At Tim's request, he was cremated, and his ashes will be buried at the family cabin in Oscoda, MI, in the family plot. Instead of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Tim's memory to Heart to Heart Hospice.
