

William (Bill) Francis Tice passed away unexpectedly, with his family by his side on January 22, 2017 at the age of 81. William was born on January 16, 1936 in Ann Arbor, MI to the late Francis and Katherine (Schaffer) Tice. Bill attended St. Thomas Elementary and St. Thomas High School where he was active in many sports. Bill was in the 11th Airborne Division as an Army Ranger, 1st infantry “The Big Red One”. As a member of the US. National Rifle Team, they were European Champions in 1957. His passion for sports continued in the military where he played baseball at Ft. Riley Kansas and for the Topeka Hawks the Kansas City AAA Affiliate. While in the military he married the love of his life Mary Ann (O’Sullivan) Tice and together they recently celebrated 61 years of marriage. Bill was an avid Michigan Football Fan and has numerous taped games, and Michigan Programs dating back as far as 1899. He attended more than 503 Michigan Football Games both home and away. In 1967 he opened Tice's Party Store at 340 S. State St. in Ann Arbor where he employed many University of Michigan students, who have remained friends through the years. Bill enjoyed years of coaching youth baseball and football in Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor and Florida. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann (O’Sullivan) Tice , his daughter Kathy (John) Frey , son Dennis (Kari) Tice, son Matt (Kim) Tice, daughter Susan Tice Niethammer, and son Chris Tice. Twelve grandchildren, Jeff, Tom and Kelsie Frey; Tony, Kelli and Ryan Tice; Kyle, Krista, Kevin and Konor Tice; Clyde William Colburn IV and Nathaniel Swanson Tice. The family will receive friends on Friday Jan. 27, 2017 at 4pm - 6:30 pm with a rosary at 6: 30pm at Muehlig Funeral Chapel, in Ann Arbor, MI . The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Of Assisi Catholic Church, on January 28th at 1pm.
