Catherine Lee Fisher of Annapolis, MD died Monday, January 15, 2024. She was 95. She was born in Hughesville, MD on October 28, 1928, and raised in Washington, DC. A 1947 graduate of Anacostia High School, she held several secretarial positions, ultimately working in the Personnel Department of the Naval Oceanographic Office, from which she retired in 1972.
Moving to the Gatlinburg, TN area in 1975, Mrs. Fisher became an avid gardener, joined a hiking group in the Smokies and frequently hosted family and friends at their mountain chalet. In later years, she served as a regular volunteer at a local hospital.
When her husband was called to pastor a local church in the late 1980’s, she provided all the background support from answering the phone, sharing prayer requests, typing weekly sermons, teaching Sunday School, and—her favorite—being a witness at weddings. They served the church together for 12 years.
A loving wife, mother and friend to so many.
She is predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Clyde V. Fisher. She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie L. Zadoretzky, and her husband Peter of Annapolis, MD; a son, Douglas E. Fisher, and the love of his life, Donna Rosen of Alexandria, VA; and three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 21 from 1-2pm at Atchley’s Smoky Mountain Chapel in Pigeon Forge, TN. Following the reception, the family will meet at Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens for internment at 2pm.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Sunday, January 28 at 2-4pm in Norair Hall at Baywoods of Annapolis, 7101 Bay Front Drive, Annapolis, MD.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
