Christopher Barnum

Christopher Tamer Barnum, 57, peacefully passed away on December 13, 2023, at his home in Annapolis, MD. He was born in Turkey on April 30, 1966, and is predeceased by his father, Retired U.S. Navy Commander Gary L. Barnum, and his mother, Marian Murn Barnum. Chris was adopted by his parents in 1971, while his father served two years in Turkey at the Joint US Military Mission for Aid to Turkey. The family later moved to Annapolis, MD, where Chris attended Annapolis High School. He was a kind soul who enjoyed films, music, and airplanes, and thoroughly enjoyed his job as an associate at Marshall’s. He also had a cat named Katrina, whom he loved dearly. Chris had many friends that all loved and cared about him deeply. He made an impact on everyone he met.

He was extremely close to his parents, and when his father passed away in 2016, Chris posted this tribute on his memorial page: “To my Father, who was always there for me and my mother and no matter how bad things were he was there to take care of us. I love and miss you Dad and I will see you again someday in God’s house with Mom and our Lord Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.”

Pursuant to his wishes, a private cremation was held. An inurnment at the United States Naval Columbarium, where he’ll be put to rest with his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Chris and his dad to the US Naval Academy Alumni Association Class of 1959, or to the Delaware Community Foundation.
