He was the only child of Eugene A. Puschert and Hazel C. Puschert, born September 6, 1932.
Del was a one of a kind personality who never knew a stranger and he often said “he liked people who bubble”. He was a well known musician who played tenor saxophone with a who’s who of musical personalities such as Elvis, Chuck Berry, Charlie Daniels and so many names, too numerous to mention.
While he was enjoying a music career, he also took advice from his father which was to get a trade in case the music trade let him down. Del became a barber. He opened his own barber shop behind his home; Del’s Barber Shop; a very unique shop with vintage memorabilia and excellent loyal employees and customers. Del loved them all.
He traveled, was in an RV club, antique car club, and played in numerous bands, notably The Van Dykes, who were legendary in the Baltimore, D.C. area in the 1950s and 60s.
Del enjoyed being a snowbird (Texas) and truly saw miles and miles of Texas.
He is predeceased by his parents Eugene A. Puschert and Hazel C. Puschert. Survivors include his life partner, Harriette Smith, children; Delbert E. Puschert, Jr., Paul (PJ) J. Puschert, and Kim G. Hickman. Also survived by Nancy Duke and Karen Smith, multiple grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
