Erich married Barbara Gleason in 1958 and moved to Bowie, Maryland where they raised their two children, Monica Lynn Rose and Erich J. Rose, Jr.
A renaissance man, Erich brought his many interests to fruition in both business and civic ways. Erich owned and operated three successful Hair Salons, and was active in the Bowie Lions Club. After moving to Annapolis, Erich was responsible for volunteering and fund-raising for the Annapolis Opera Company, later becoming its President; raising money to renovate St. Anne’s Parish House; helping to run a local political campaign; participating in Annapolis Real Estate Development, specifically the revitalization of West Street; part owner and expansion of Gibson’s Lodgings; and pursuing an avid interest in Genealogy and History. After his death, his family discovered the various charities Erich had been supporting for many years.
In 1982, Erich married Adela Nash and became influential in helping to raise her two children, Lane Erwin and Jay Erwin.
At the time of his death, his family had expanded to include his son Erich’s wife, Martine and their daughter Lilou; Jay Erwin’s wife Stephanie and their two children, Amelia and Caroline. Erich’s half-siblings in Germany are Sylvia, Ralf, and Gabby. Through research into his Genealogy, Erich discovered Yvonne his half-sister in France, seven nephews and one niece, all who have become an active part of the extended family.
We all will miss Erich, his wonderful stories and his kind heart. A private burial will be held at a later date. Instead of flowers, his family asks that donations be made to St. Anne’s Parish, 199 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis, MD 21401.
