Gail M. Holt

Gail M. Holt (nee McClanahan), 89, of Edgewater, Maryland passed away on Christmas Day, December 25, 2022 at Autumn Lake at Crofton. Gail is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde C. and Dorothy L. McClanahan and her husband, Joe P. Holt. Gail was the beloved mother to Cindy Holt Smith (Jimmy) of Edgewater, MD and Steven T. Holt (Debbie) of Stevensville, MD. She is survived by her beloved sister Janet Tetta (Alphonso) of Glen Cove, New York. (Distance did not stop them from talking every single day!). Gail is also survived by the loves of her life, her grandsons, Christopher J. Smith and Brandon L. Smith both of Edgewater, MD.

Born in Fort Valley, Virginia on February 24, 1933, Gail moved with her parents and sister to Davidsonville, Maryland. Gail attended Annapolis Senior High School. After high school, Gail found her calling working for the Housing Authority of the City of Annapolis. She worked there for 30 years and rose through the ranks beginning as a clerk typist and ending her career there as Assistant Director. She took up a second career working for Coldwell Banker Real Estate in Annapolis. When she retired she was happy to get to spend more time with her grandsons. Gail was an avid reader from a very early age. Sadly her eyesight deteriorated by thankfully Audible was born! She became a real pro operating her phone and listening to many, many, many books. She was also an avid news watcher. When she wasn't listening to books she was watching the news. She had a brilliant mind and could discuss politics with the best of them. She was kind and generous and will be missed by everyone whose life she touched.

A visitation for Gail will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2023 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 pm at John M. Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester Street Annapolis, MD 21401. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment to follow at All Hallows Chapel Cemetery, 864 W. Central Avenue, Davidsonville, MD 21035.
