Colonel Ray passed away in his sleep from natural causes on August 28th, 2014. He was a heavily decorated veteran of WW2 and the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He received the Bronze Star for exceptional valor in combat and he was twice awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat. He received his undergraduate degree from Duke University in NC and graduate degree from RPI In New York. He was a devoted husband and a loving father to his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, his children Katrina Landis and Bert Ray, his brother Douglas Ray and his grandchildren Kimberly, Michael, Marina, Kaitlin, Zoya and David. A memorial service will be held at St Thomas Church in McLean, VA on September 27th at 1:00.
