Mary Cecilia Murphy

Mary Cecelia Murphy passed away on April 13th, 2022 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center, Annapolis, MD. She was born on November 22, 1931 in Phoenix Park, Dublin, Ireland, to Anastasia “Connie” (Kelly) Murphy and James Murphy. Mary is survived by her sons Scott (Shyami), and Colin (Kathy Brinkman); grandson Taylor (Rebekah). She was the sister to the late Sean Murphy (late Beatrice Murphy), the late Patrick Murphy (Teresa Murphy), and the late Seamus Murphy (Diane Bair). She is survived by her extended family including Tom Murphy, Sharon Feltman; her nieces Diane Burke, Arleen Rowen, Colleen Hiatt, Eileen Murphy; Nephews Michael Murphy, Kevin Murphy, Sean Murphy, Jimmy Murphy; and 2nd cousins Paul Lavin, Jackie Lavin, and Susan Conard. Her family roots extended throughout the U.S. and Ireland, where she is survived by numerous relatives and special friends.

Mary was well known for her love of animals, especially dogs and horses. She was an avid equestrian since she was a young girl riding bareback in Phoenix Park in Dublin. She loved her dogs and had owned 17 dogs over the course of her life (she is survived by “Murphy”). Her menagerie over the years included cats, fish, rabbits, birds, and hamsters. Other joys of Mary’s life included gardening, singing (she had been a member of the Encore Chorale Group), and gathering with family and friends.
