Born in Columbus, Ohio, on June 10, 1930, to the late Frances and Merrill Walker, Brad spent most of his childhood in Massachusetts, graduating from New Bedford High School, where he participated in the ROTC program. He then attended Harvard for a year, before serving in the Army during the Korean War.
After his military service, Brad finished his education at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and soon moved to Annapolis, where he lived for 65+ years. He had a long career with Victor O. Schinnerer & Co., rising to a senior executive position before retiring.
Brad was never one to sit idle. He enjoyed tending to the grounds at his home in Annapolis and he was a dedicated steward of the blueberry patch and surrounding woods at the family farm in Wareham, MA, where he was truly in his element hosting family reunions.
He was a welcoming person. Throughout his life, he cherished family dinners, whether at home, local restaurants, or the Annapolis Yacht Club.
Brad possessed an optimistic spirit and a calm, centered demeanor, bringing a sense of joyful and open-minded curiosity to his travels and everyday life. He also held a desire to see our land preserved and cared for.
With a deep appreciation for culture and education, he was an avid reader, a collector of art and a lover of an eclectic range of music. He was an amazing wellspring of knowledge until his last days. He was a true original and will be greatly missed.
Brad and his entire family are grateful to his wonderful caregivers for helping him remain in the home he loved. They were good friends to him and became part of the family.
In addition to his parents, Brad was preceded in death by his wife, Diana, his brother, Robert and step-son Jim Brincefield. He is survived by his three daughters, Jenifer Walker-Good (Steve Good), Liza Walker-McBride (Jeff Grubb) and Charlotte “Katie” Walker (Jason); his sister Nancy Hanna; his sister-in-law Muriel Walker; two grandchildren, Emma Good (Patrick Wall) and Bradley Good (Amberlynn); two step-grandchildren, Jimmy Brincefield IV (Destiny) and Sarah Brincefield; and many nieces and nephews
No services are currently scheduled. In lieu of flowers and in remembrance of Brad’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the Arbor Day Foundation (arborday.org).
