

Nelson Hume Tydings 91 of Arnold, MD passed away suddenly of heart disease on August 15, 2023, in Annapolis, MD. Nelson was born and raised in Annapolis, MD to Henry Vernon and Christine Augusta Tydings.
Nelson was raised in Weems Creek. He was an awesome father and great family man. Thanks Dad! Nelson was an avid fisherman, crabber, hunter, archeologist, artist, carpenter, bird watcher and gardener. He enjoyed dealing guns, knives, militaria, and coins. He had a very close relationship with his Grandparents Chris and Augusta F. Nelson. In high school he was active in football, boy scouts and the U.S. Navy ROTC. Nelson was drafted into the U.S. Navy during the Korean war. He was a Seabee with Construction Battalion 101 in Korea. He earned 5 medals during his deployment. Nelson was a Carpenter and worked at the United States Naval Academy & the U. S. Naval Air Station in St. Georges, Bermuda. Nelson and his wife, Wilma enjoyed retirement at their home in the Florida, Keys.
Nelson is preceded in death by his parents Henry Vernon Tydings, 1995 and Christine Augusta Nelson, 1999. Sister, Arline Elizabeth Tydings, 2005. His wife of 51 years Wilma Ruth Walker, 2014. Daughter, Judy Ann Tydings, 1966. Stepson, Danny K. Richardson, 2014.
Nelson is survived by Son, Chris N. Tydings of Annapolis, MD. Daughters, Lorri J. Tydings of Annapolis, MD., and Lisa M. Jonas of Arnold, MD. Stepchildren, John B Richardson III of Annapolis, MD. Shirley R. DiPietro of Punta Gorda, FL. Grandchildren, Dawn M. Elliott of Arnold, MD, Donald Scot Elliott of West Ocean City, MD, Michael S. Richardson of Confluence, PA, Erin L. Smoot of Glen Burnie, MD, George W. Jonas IV of Arnold, MD and Amanda C. Crown of Davidsonville, MD. Great Grandchildren Ryan M. McDeshen of Arnold, MD, Sarah M. Knapp of Arnold, MD, Kyle Elliott, and Payton Elliott both of West Ocean City, MD, Gavin R. Crown, and Colin J. Crown both of Davidsonville, MD.
