Wayne Robert Roantes

Wayne Robert Roantes passed away on March 24, 2026 at the age of 70, after a courageous battle with Glioblastoma. He was born on April 12, 1955, in Hempstead, New York to Ruth Jean Murray and Anthony Roantes.

He was predeceased by his mother Ruth Jean, siblings, brothers William (Bill) Roantes, Anthony (Tony) Roantes, John Roantes and sister Jeannine Roantes Arrunategui.

He is survived by siblings Sharon Roantes Shreve, Vivienne Roantes McLoughlin, and Scott Brownlee and many nieces and nephews, all of who he was immensely proud of.

He will be greatly missed by the love of his life, Iva Frantz, whom he shared nearly two decades of love and companionship.

He grew up surrounded by the love of his family. He enjoyed spending time at Caroga Lake,

He served his country in the United State Marine Corps. Dedicating 4 years working as a Radio Intelligence Operator during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Edrell, Scotland as a Russian Linguist decrypting Soviet communications.

After his years of military service he worked in the construction field and held various positions as a construction superintendent.

He was an avid reader. He enjoyed his vegetable and flower garden and the backyard birds! He loved vacationing at the Villages in Ocala, Florida. Most of all he loved visiting his family for weddings, birthdays and family reunions with many, many relatives in attendance.

He captured the imagination of the younger members of the family while regaling all with his stories which will be retold and remembered for generations to come.

His memory will be carried on through his family, friends and all the lives he touched in his remarkable journey of life.

The family wishes to offer a special thank you to all the wonderful and caring doctors who took care of him, with a special nod to his oncologist and primary care doctor. Another special thank you to Gilchrist Hospice care team for their kindness and compassionate care at the end.

Services will be held later in NY for a family celebration of life.
