Arnold Julius Stephens passed away at the age of 84 on March 20, 2025. Arnold was born on July 4th, 1940 in Talladega, Alabama. At the age of 17, he met the love of his life, Shirley Ann, at Trinity Baptist Church. It was there one Sunday that he asked her to go for a milkshake after church. 3 months later they were married. They spent 62 wonderful years together, filled with countless laughs, endless adventures and immeasurable love, until Shirley preceded him in death in 2019– reuniting with his mother (Ressie Stephens) and father (J.V. Stephens).
Arnold lived the majority of his life in Oxford, AL. He worked for many years as a commercial truck driver. Having to spend time away due to it, nothing brought Arnold more happiness than returning to the thing he loved the most—home. His true joy in life came from his time spent with his family. He was lovingly known by many as, “Dad,” “Unc,” “Pawpaw,” and “Pop.” His family will miss his one-of-a-kind hugs, his heartwarming smile, his ability to fix almost anything, his chocolate peanut butter balls, and his ability to make you feel like you were the most important person in the world.
He is survived by his Daughter, Kim Stephens Adams, Grandchildren - Corey Matthew Adams (Hannah), Taylor Keith Adams (Dylana), and Logan Lee Adams, and Great-Grandchildren - Axton Michael Kai Reid, Annlyn Jane (AJ) Adams, Adaleigh Mae Adams, Bryce Everett Adams, and Briggs Alexander Adams.
Visitation for Mr. Arnold Stephens will be Sunday, March 23rd, 2025 at the Chapel at Chapel Hill starting at 12:30 PM with services starting at 2 PM.
