

She was preceded in death by her parents James Melvin Brown Sr. and Minnie Lurlean Brown and her 2nd husband Herbert Clay. She is survived by her first husband Luther Murray her children she loved , Regina Ragland and Jarrad Murray (Lisa) of Anniston; her cherished grandchildren, Vance Fleming and Keith Fleming of Heflin; and her step-grandchildren Marisa Friar (Landon), Anna Palomares (Tyler), and Stephanie Couch (Erik), along with several step-great grandchildren. She is also survived by many siblings, nieces and nephews and extended family members who will miss her dearly.
A celebration of life for Barbara will be Monday, April 6, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Gray Brown Service Mortuary with Minister Chris Tillery officiating. Burial will follow at Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Hendrix, Chris Brown, Cameron Brown, Tyler Palomares, Mike Murray, Shawn Jarvis and Lance Braden
Barbara retired form JSU and lived a life rooted in faith, family and hard work. She enjoyed walking the farm, taking day trips, and visiting with friends she had made throughout the years. She especially treasured her large family and values she learned growing up on the farm. Barbara was a lifelong member of White Plains United Methodist Church and later attended White Plains Church of Christ. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Enhabit Hospice for their loving care and support they provided over the past months.
