

Funeral Services for Mrs. Betty McCarty Hicks, 86, of Anniston will be Monday at 1:00 at Gray Brown Service Chapel with Rev. Ken Ballard officiating. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday from 11:00 until service at Gray Brown. Mrs. Hicks passed away July 11, 2014 in Anniston.
Survivors include her daughter Cindy Allen (Ken) of Oxford, Alabama, Jim Hicks (Susan) of San Antonio, Texas and Mike Hicks (Mary) of Huntsville, Alabama, grandchildren Teressa Presley (Rick), Jay Hicks (Rachel) and Liza Hicks, great grandchildren Abby Hicks, Olivia Hicks, Alli Presley and Graham Presley, her sisters Martha Sharp and Edith Kirkpatrick, her brother Bill McCarty (Joan), her sister-in-law Billie McCarrick (Don) and Betty McElhaney and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hicks is preceded in death by her husband James “Moo” Hicks, parents John Wesley and Lucille Vista McCarty and a brother Charles “Bud” McCarty.
Pallbearers will be close relatives.
Mrs. Hicks was an Anniston native and a lifelong member of McCoy United Methodist Church where she was active in many church activities. She was a member of the Anniston High School Class of 1946 and was active in Chink Lott Boys and AHS Grand Reunion events. Mrs. Hicks worked at Lee Brothers Brass, McCoy Methodist Church and Fort McClellan. She was an avid Auburn fan. The family extends its thanks to Dr. Free, Dr. Spremulli, and the wonderful staff of Unit 4 RMC, NHC Place and NHC Rehabilitation.
In Lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to a local charity, the American Cancer Society, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
