Survivors include his wife, Lottie Lay of Anniston, daughter, Gala Bynum and husband Jerry of Jacksonville, son, Charles M. Lay Jr., and wife Judith of Chelsea, AL, two grandchildren, Judith Kelsey Lay of Piedmont and Carlin Tighe and wife Lesley of Tazewell, TN, sister-in-law, Patsy Strickland and husband Shannon of Munford, niece, Deborah Lively and husband Don of Oxford, nephew, Shannon Strickland Jr., and wife Cherry of Munford, several great nieces and nephews.
Mr. Lay was a native of Calhoun County and a member of Wayside Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Army and he served during the Korean War and received the Purple Heart. Mr. Lay was a Mason.
