

Funeral service for David Gunter, 56, of Anniston, will be 1:00pm, Saturday, July 31, 2010, at Gray Brown-Service with Rev. David Jones and Rev. Sherri Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Eulaton United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11-1:00 pm at the funeral home. Mr. Gunter died Wednesday surrounded by his family.
Survivors include son, Jason David Gunter and wife Dana of Sparta, NJ; granddaughter, Gianna Gunter; sisters, Frankie Smitherman and husband Ken of Satsuma, Henri Derrick and husband W.D. of Cullman, and Ruth Mitchell and husband Gorden of Eastaboga; former wife, Suzanne Lee of Riverdale NJ; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Gunter is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Inez Gunter.
Pallbearers will be Stanley Lewallyn, Barry Mundy, Craig Derrick, Nicky Arkontacky, Mike Halpin, Richard Ward, Chris Belvins and Tim Reid. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gorden Mitchell, Ken Smitherman, W.D. Derrick, and Turner Gunter.
Mr. Gunter was a resident of Anniston, and lived several years in New Jersey. He graduated from Walter Wellborn High School in 1972 and spent two years at Parson Art School in New York City. Mr. Gunter enjoyed working on cars and had a great passion for art and history. He worked at FabArc Steel and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Amedisys Hospice or Eulaton United Methodist Church.
