

Graveside services for Mrs. Deena Jo Pilkington Pennington, 72, of Homewood, will be Wednesday, August 28th, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at Anniston Memorial Gardens with Lee Bradley officiating. The family would like to welcome friends, Tuesday night, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Gray Brown-Service Mortuary. Mrs. Pennington passed away on August 25th, 2024.
She is survived by her son, Ryan Pennington; mother, Evelyn Pilkington; sister, Susan Haynes and her husband Donald; nephew, Brian Haynes and his wife Claire; great nephew and great niece, Wesley James Haynes and Ann Claire Courtney Haynes.
Mrs. Pennington is preceded in death by her husband, George Alvin Pennington; father, H.L. Pilkington; niece, Courtney Haynes Harris.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Gerald Ray Grady, Wayne Horton, Bobby Ganato, Donald Haynes, Brian Haynes, and Ryan Pennington.
After graduating high school, Deena worked in the banking industry in Anniston and Cullman before becoming a practicing Real Estate Appraiser in Orange Beach and Birmingham. She devoted countless hours to charitable organizations with her favorite being Treasures of the Isle Mardi Gras Society, for which she served as President and Queen.
Religion played an important role for Deena. She and George found Christian fellowship in many of the places she moved, as she was a member of Cullman Baptist, Orange Beach United Methodist, and Bynum Baptist Church. Additionally, one of her prized possessions was the Bible her father gifted to her as a child.
At home, Deena was a loving wife and mother. She adored animals, and cared for many throughout her life. Even more so, she adored her son, Ryan, who will carry on her love of life, family, and animals.
