Anniston- Funeral Services for Dorothy Coleman, 91, will be held Saturday, October 21, 2017 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark Methodist Church with Rev Tim Kendrick officiating. Interment will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Coleman was born and raised in Talladega, Al, the middle child of three children. After graduation from Lincoln High School, she met and married Charles Harrell Coleman in December 1945. While attending the University of Alabama, Mrs. Coleman worked for Dean Bidgood, while putting her husband through college. After graduation, the Coleman’s returned to Talladega and continued employment at Anniston Army Depot and later at Fort McClellan in Anniston. Mrs. Coleman was a faithful member of the Methodist Church, and was a certified lay speaker and teacher for over 40 years.
Mrs. Coleman was a gifted pianist, playing exclusively by ear, and furnished everlasting Joy to all in attendance.
Mrs. Coleman is survived by her brother, Hugh “Bud” Hindmon; sons, Kenny (Brenda) Coleman, and Clay (Roxanne) Coleman; granddaughter, Erin Coleman (Blake) Labrato; grandsons, Erik Coleman, and Ben Coleman; great-grandson, Everett Labrato; and nephews, Hugh Gordan Hindmon, and Greg Hindmon.
Mrs. Coleman is preceeded in death by her husband, Charles Harrell Coleman; and her sister, Myrtle Hindmon.
The Coleman family would like to thank the caring staff at NHC for their love and kindness.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to St. Marks United Methodist Church. Chapel Hill Funeral will be in charge of services.
