Edwin E. Shetter, 93, of Saks passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023. Edwin was born in Chattanooga, TN; he was then raised and lived in Morgan County, Georgia until joining the United States Air Force where he served his country for four years. He worked for the railroad company, which brought him to Anniston, AL where he established Ed’s TV Repair Service, and ran for over 40 years before retiring.
Edwin is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Brenda and Martin (Marty) Jacks, grandchildren Kyle Shetter, David Shetter, and Kristina Shetter, along with six great-grandchildren: Brooklynn Shetter, William Shetter, Orrin Brooks, Olivia Jean Shetter, Ryder Huckins, and Abram Shetter.
Edwin was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Shetter, his son Harold E. Shetter, his father and mother Harold and Maggie Lynn Shetter, brothers Robert (Bobby) Shetter, Donald Shetter, sisters Dorothy Murphree, Ruby Whidby, Ruth Smith.
He was a skilled woodworker and cabinetmaker, and leaves behind a legacy of handcrafted furnishings built from his converted woodshop, once an old one room schoolhouse. When not working or spending time with the family, he could most often be found on the golf course, being a member and at one time part owner of Indian Oaks Golf Club as well as finding himself in the papers more often than most, celebrating a hole-in-one. He was a lover of antique vehicles, including the 1965 Ford Mustang he and his eldest grandson restored together.
Funeral services for Edwin will be Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Gray Brown Service Mortuary with Brother Milton Harris officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
