

He is survived by his wife of 41 years and his second heartbeat, Christy Key Allinder; daughter Keitha Segrest (Brian) of Anniston; son Davey Heath of Anniston; granddaughters Allie Segrest Montgomery (Will) of Tuscaloosa and Rylee Segrest Baxter (Tyler) of Enterprise; great granddaughter Harper Ann Heath, who he lovingly called "Little Hah"; grandsons Chance Heath (Allison) of Henegar and Cain Heath of Auburn; sisters Johnny Cusic of Orlando, FL, Judy Mundy of Oxford, Libby Freeman of Anniston, Margie Jackson (Danny) of Rockingham, NC, Jani Barker (Keith) of Anniston, and Mott Goodwin (Jeff Waldon) of Oxford; brothers Gene Freeman (Sandra) of Grand Bay, AL, Bill Teneyck, and Billy Ballard; A host of nieces/nephews, great nieces/nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, JR Allinder; mother Willie Frank Brannon Allinder; brother Chuck Allinder; and sisters Mary Allinder Ballard, Peggy Allinder Ezell, Nettie Ballard Stout, Barbara Collum (Billy), and Linda Hughes TenEyck.
Gene was an owner and operator of Valley Overhead Garage Doors. He loved Jesus and people, was an avid fisherman and loved music of all genres. He was caring and patient with others and was a strong patriarch of the family with a huge smile. He was so helpful and giving to everyone. His family lovingly called him the Old Troubadour.
"To Better Days" was the motto he and his wife lovingly used.
Pallbearers will be Brian Segrest, Will Montgomery, Tyler Baxter, Danny Jackson, Jeff Waldon, and Bill TenEyck. Honorary will be Keith Barker, Milford Bryant, and Dalton Howell.
The family would like to recognize and thank special caregivers and friends: Dr. VM Reddy at Anniston Wellness and Crystal Maddox of Encompass Home Health.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Boys and Girls Club of East Central Alabama.
