Helen Finley Thomas (1930 - 2023)
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Helen Finley Thomas, who left us peacefully on November 23, 2023, at the age of 93, following a brief illness. Born and raised in Anniston, Alabama, Helen had been a resident of Ocala, Florida for the past 30 years.
Helen's life was marked by her unwavering devotion to her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Billy Graves Thomas, Sr., with whom she shared 39 years of loving marriage. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Finley and Dolly Fields Finley, and her brothers, Hertice, Clyde, and Ralph Finley.
Helen's is survived by her sister, Betty Wills (Kenneth), her children, Billy Graves Thomas, Jr. (Denise) of Richmond, VA, Diana Thomas Deaton (John) of Ocala, FL, and Kim Thomas of London, England. Her love lives on in her five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy.
Professionally, Helen left an indelible mark on the lives of countless children through her role as a kindergarten teacher at Gladeview Baptist Church in the Anniston community of Saks during the 1970s. Her dedication to the children she taught, her kind heart and sweet loving nature have left a lasting impact on the Saks community.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of choice in Helen's memory. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks for the support and love shown during this difficult time.
