Graveside services for James "Bud" Edward Owens, 91, of Anniston, will be 1 PM Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11 - 12:30 at the funeral home. Mr. Owens passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025 at Diversicare of Oxford.
Survivors include his brother, Jerry Owens (Kathy) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Owens is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Bessie Owens, Sisters, Ruby Rogers, Louise Allison and Margaret Terrell, and his brother, Tommy Owens.
James grew up in Dearmanville, Alabama and helped his dad on the farm. He went to school at Dearmanville and Oxford. James drove a school bus at Oxford for Principle Standford who said James always had the kids at school on time. James worked for Fred Howell Super Market on 4th and Noble St for years delivering groceries all over Anniston. The draft called in 1950 and James was sent to Kansas for basic Training and then to Germany for 2 years. Upon returning home from the army he and his brother Tommy worked for Painting Contractors on large Buildings. He worked for Anniston Army Depot in Bynum receiving and dispatching ammunition for the army. After retiring he raised cattle on his farm and helped look after his mother and Dad. James had many friends and always enjoyed a good party with them. James was a good person and he loved his family.
