Mr. Penland ended this life’s journey on October 11, 2022 after a long illness to take his beloved wife of 63 years fishing in paradise as he promised.
James worked hard in the textile industry for many years to support his large family and in later years with the Opportunity Center in Anniston working closely with disabled persons in a supervisory role. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved hunting and fishing before his health started to decline. After retirement he enjoyed working in his yard, gardening and woodworking. He was a member of Fairview Heights Northside Baptist Church where he and his friend Bennett would help with various repair projects and was a huge Alabama fan. “Roll Tide Dad!”
Special thanks from the family to Kindred Hospice for the compassionate care and attention to my dad in his last days. Also, special thanks to Heather, Tammy, Diana, Marilee, Jennifer and many others.
