

Jerre was a native of Anniston, Alabama, a former Anniston firefighter and lifelong water well driller who retired and worked his dream job at Anniston Municipal Golf Course (The Hill) for the last 20 years where he also played golf for the last 56 years. While being interviewed by Sports Today in 2014 for The Hills 80th Anniversary, Jerre was quoted as saying "The Hill is a landmark for the city of Anniston, it's a beautiful place to be, It feels like home." Jerre lived doing what he loved.
Jerre graduated from Anniston High School in 1960, attended Samford (Howard) College, and played shortstop for the Dodgers organization in 1962.
Graveside Services will be held at Forestlawn Gardens in Golden Springs on Monday December 29, 2025 at 1:00 PM. Officiating services will be Rev. John Howell.
Pallbearers will be Ty Dingler, Cale Dingler, Jake Dingler, John Crosson, and Braden Ray.
Jerre is survived by his son Ty Dingler (Candace Dingler), daughters Tammy and Wendy Dingler, Step daughter Kim Crosson, Grandsons Cale and Jake Dingler.
Jerre is preceded in death by his parents Reverend Hamp and Vera Dingler, sister Linda Willingham, and son Jeff Dingler.
