Jimmy Tucker

OHATCHEE – Funeral service for Mr. Jimmy Tucker, age 59, will be 3 p.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at Boiling Springs Baptist Church with Revs. Tommy Hays, Gary Walker and Joe Jones officiating. Mr. Tucker will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Bethel Methodist Cemetery. The family will welcome friends Tuesday evening at Chapel Hill Funeral Home from 3 – 8 p.m.

Mr. Tucker passed away Saturday, June 18, 2011 at UAB.

Mr. Tucker is survived by his wife, Wanda Thompson Tucker, six children, ten grandchildren, and two on the way. Children are Lawanna Wahl (Jeremy), Melissa Marsh (Frank), John Tucker (April), Amanda Fowler (Derek), Dixie Tucker and Jubal Tucker. Grandchildren are Rebecca, Megan, Christopher and Nathan Wahl; Tucker, Katherina and William Marsh; Jackson Tucker; and Bailey Jo and Coleman Fowler. Sisters Joan Davis and Jeannine Kilgore and nieces and nephews, Slay Magouirk, Kym Mason, Ericka Caudill, Heather Hester, Hannah Kilgore, Summer Lee and several other great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, RV and Louise Tucker, sister, Jayne DeJaynes and niece, Khris French.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Jones, Daniel Jones, Brandon Clough, Chad Clements, Greg Hindman and Brian Woodall. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Deese, Ricky Jones, Mike Wood, Ronald Jones, Chris Lehr and the Ten Islands Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp #2678.

Mr. Tucker was born on Father’s Day 1951. He was a native and lifelong resident of Ohatchee. He was well known throughout the Ohatchee community where he devoted countless hours to coaching and mentoring children and young adults. He was a member of the Cherokee Tribe of Northeast Alabama, the SCV and an associate member of the UDC. Mr. Tucker was an avid reader and a history buff, particularly Civil War history. He was an animated story teller and a friend to all. He loved his children and grandchildren dearly and was beloved by them.
