Joe Mundy

Oxford - Funeral services for Mr. Joe Mundy, 81 of Oxford will be Wednesday November 2, 2011 at 2:00p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Chaplin Jim Wilson officiating with burial following at Forestlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6-8p.m. at Chapel Hill.

Mr. Mundy passed away October 28, 2011 at his residences.

Mr. Mundy is survived by his wife’ Rita Haynes Mundy; Daughter, Sherry (Frank) Wilson; son, Dennis (Linda) Mundy; grandchildren, Meko Venegas, Shaa’ Bolt, Jake (Kayla) Peeples, Delaine (John) Baker, Brooke (Justin) Brown, Kim (Daryl) Waggoner, Kelly (Daniel) Clayton, Jack (Beverly) Mundy; twelve great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Fred Azbell, Billy Higginbotham, Jack Mundy, Daryl Waggoner, Dillion Waggoner, Gary Mundy, Ed Mundy and Mark Cova. Honorary pallbearers will be co-workers of plant operations at RMC and Cheaha Vintage Auto Club.

Mr. Mundy was a resident of Blue Mountain and Oxford. He served as Mayor of Blue Mountain for four terms. He was also a member of Glen Addie Baptist Church and attended services at RMC chapel. He was employed at Blue Mountain Cotton Mill for 29 years and RMC for 29 years. He was a member of the Hartwell Masonic Lodge 101 and Cheaha Vintage Auto Club.

Mr. Mundy is preceded in death by his mother, Hattie Mae Nelson.
