John Ervin Traywick, “Big John”, “Buster” “Jet” 98, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026. Born on March 21, 1927, in Anniston, Alabama, John grew up with a deep love of baseball, friends and family.
John was a lifelong patriot and was part of the greatest generation volunteering for the Navy in 1944. He served from 1945-1948 and an additional five years in the Navy Reserve. After returning home from the service, he worked 38 years for AT&T. He was a devoted husband to Joyce for 58 years, a loving father to Patti Traywick and Kevin Traywick, and a proud step grandfather of two grandchildren Matt Peters (Rebecca) and Jason Peters (Jenifer), and five great grandchildren, Jackson, Carter, Caroline, Lillian and Annie.
John was known for his kindness to others, the love for his family and his ability to fix anything. He loved his dog babies through the years, tending to his yard and watching the Braves on TV.
Graveside service with family and friends will be at Forestlawn Gardens in Anniston Alabama on Wednesday, March 11th, 2026 at 2 PM.
He will be deeply missed, but his love and lessons will live on in all who knew him.
