

Funeral service for Mrs. Marion Smith Watson (Polly), 89, of Anniston, will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 25th, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church of Anniston with Mr. David Hodnett officiating. The Family will receive friends one hour prior to service on Wednesday at the church. Mrs. Watson died Saturday at RMC.
Survivors include her son, Lon Chandler Watson III (Katrina P.); daughters, Marion Watson Murphree (Stacy M.) and Harriet Watson Lane (Dan); Grandchildren, Lon Chandler (Chad) Watson IV (Renita), Seraphine M. Roberts (Terry Brentt), Jessica Lane Boone (Rusty), Hannah Lane Ziebach (Adam), and Charles Daniel Lane Jr.; Great Grandchildren, Anna Grace Boone and Gregory Joshua Boone; and her sister, Anne Smith McCuiston.
Mrs. Watson is preceded in death by her husband, Lon Chandler Watson Jr. and Son, William Robert Watson.
Pallbearers will be Charles Orr, Ronald Allen, L.C. Watson IV, Daniel Lane, Scott Burleson, and Jerry McCullars.
After graduating from Princeton High School in Princeton, WV, Mrs. Watson completed her associate degree at Montreat Anderson College in Montreat, NC. She then went on to receive her bachelor’s degree at the Presbyterian School of Christian Education in Richmond, VA after which she was called to the First Scotts Presbyterian Church in Charleston SC as the Director of Christian Education for two years. Then in 1949, she was called to First Presbyterian of Anniston as their Director of Christian Education. Mrs. Watson served on the Session for 3 years, was a circle chairman for 8 years, and held many other jobs at First Presbyterian of Anniston. She was also involved in her community, being a member of the Algonquin’s Study Club and the Bienville Chapter of DAR. Mrs. Watson also spent 12 years as a Probation Officer at Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court in Anniston. The family will accept flowers or donations made in Mrs. Watson’s memory to The First Presbyterian Church of Anniston, 1701 Henry Road Anniston, AL 36207.
