Maude Whittington

Mrs. Whittington’s family will welcome loved ones and visitors on Saturday, July 3, 2021 from 10:00 until 11:00 am with a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 am, at Silver Chapel Christian Harmony Fellowship Church, 545 Buckner Circle, Fort McClellan, Alabama, with Pastor Dale Hollingsworth officiating.

Mrs. Whittington is survived by her husband of 63 years, Otis Whittington; daughters Katrina Patterson of Georgia, Cindy Woodard and husband Phillip of Oxford, and Heather Franklin of Florida; 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; brother Edwin Humphries and sisters Isabel Barnes and Ruth Johnson.

She is preceded in death by her son, Seth Whittington, daughter-in-law Cathy Whittington; sons-in-law Danny Patterson and Charles Franklin; brothers, Woody Humphries, Joe Humphries, and Harry Humphries, and sisters Norma Pittman and Esne Butler.

Born and raised in Louisville, Mississippi to Chester and Edna Humphries, Mrs. Whittington was the baby of the family of nine children. She married the love of her life in 1958, becoming a proud Army Wife and stepping up to be the finest example of a devoted wife, mother and friend to all. Mrs. Whittington was multi-talented and used her many skills in church and volunteer work and supporting her children’s many activities throughout her life. She played organ and piano at countless church services, weddings, funerals and other special events and occasions, and was always ready to offer her time and talents to anyone who needed them. Mrs. Whittington will be remembered by many military widows for her tireless support of the Annual Widow’s Luncheon at Christmas for over 30 years. She was known for her outgoing and friendly personality, always being the first to reach out and greet people with a smile or hug.

We will grieve deeply for her, but we are rejoicing in our hearts as we grieve, for we know exactly where we will find her one day, safely at home with her Savior and loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Silver Chapel Harmony Christian Fellowship Church fund at 545 Buckner Circle, Ft McClellan, AL 36205.
