Myrtle Owen Wright Keever

Funeral services for Myrtle Owen Wright Keever, 99, of Jacksonville, will be 2 pm Saturday, November 17, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville with Dr. Derek Staples officiating and Great-grandson Nick Leonard as vocalist. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 – 8 pm at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary in Anniston. Mrs. Keever died Tuesday at Jacksonville Medical Center.

Survivors include her children, Esther Wright Meharg, of Anniston, Robert Lee “Buddy” Wright (Gwen) of Huntsville and Ralph “Butch” Wright (Jeanne) of Enterprise, step-son, Tom Keever (Carolyn) and step-daughter-in-law, Ann Keever, grandchildren, Robert Leonard (Glynda), Susan Leonard Wesson (Jeff), Linda Leonard Callahan, Cathy Wright Dietz (Richard), Robert Michael Wright, Leanne Renee Wright Lee (John), Matthew Robert Wright, Karen Meharg Harper (Tim), Mandy Meharg Parrish, Ralph “Jerry” Wright (Lara) and Sarah Wright Downey (John), 23 great-grandchildren, 8 step- grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, sister, Mary Owen Winstead of Jacksonville.

Mrs. Keever is preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Lee Wright Sr., and Charles M. Keever; daughter, Roberta Wright Leonard; son-in-law Loman Leonard; son-in-law; Larry Meharg step-son, Larry Keever; granddaughter; Lisa Wright Lyons and grandsons; Mark Christopher Wright and Thomas Scott Leonard; nine brothers and two sisters.

Pallbearers will be Robert Leonard, Jerry Wright, Matt Wright, Joe Cargal, Rob Leonard and Jeff Wesson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jacksonville Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary.

Mrs. Keever was a native of Cleburne County and a resident of Calhoun County for most of her life. She was the oldest member of the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville. Mrs. Keever served as president and vice president of the Jacksonville Medical Center Auxiliary. From 1984-2001 she had volunteered 6,412 hours. Mrs. Keever was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister and will be missed by all who knew her.
