Nancy Newman Bennett

Nancy Newman Bennett, 88, passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Parker Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. Billy Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 12:30-2:00 pm at the church.

Mrs. Bennett is survived by one daughter, Nancy Kay Hubbard (Alan) of Oxford: three sons, James William Bennett of Piedmont, Joseph Newman Bennett (Starla) of Oxford, and Dr. David Wayne Bennett (Angela) of Mountain Brook; seven grandchildren, Bennett Lee Hubbard, Patrick Alan Hubbard, Stevie Nichole Bennett, Joseph Chase Bennett, Jodi Heather Bennett, Carmen Elizabeth Bennett, Andrew David Bennett and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bennett is preceded in death by her loving husband, James Odell Bennett; two brothers, Charles Newman and Paul Newman and two sisters, Sue Davis and Margaret Abbott.

Pallbearers will be Bennett Lee Hubbard, Patrick Alan Hubbard, Joseph Chase Bennett, Andrew David Bennett, Thomas Bennett and Bill Newman.

Mrs. Bennett was born in Lebanon Junction, Kentucky. She graduated from Business College and worked as a secretary at the L&N Railroad in Louisville, Ky. She met her husband J.O. Bennett while he was attending the Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky. They were married 56 years during which time she served as a Godly wife, business partner and Christian mother to their four children. She was a member of Parker Memorial Baptist Church and also attended Lakeview Baptist Church.

She will be remembered as a caring, fun-loving and thoughtful person who always wore a warm beautiful smile. Her greatest love was her husband, children and grandchildren. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to NHC Place for their kindness and wonderful care.
